King Legacy Update 10: A Strong Refresh, But Not Enough to Challenge the Top Two
The biggest update in King Legacy's history arrives at the worst possible time
On March 13, Sea King Games dropped Update 10 for King Legacy β arguably the most ambitious patch the One Piece-inspired RPG has ever received. A full combat overhaul, three new fruits, two raid bosses, weapon revamps, and a raised level cap represent months of development aimed at modernizing a game that's held the #2 spot in Roblox's anime RPG space for years.
The problem? The competitive landscape shifted beneath King Legacy's feet while those months ticked by. Sailor Piece, the explosive newcomer from Shadowrise Devs, now commands 402,558 concurrent players β surpassing even Blox Fruits' 354,806. King Legacy sits at 48,659. Update 10 needed to be a paradigm shift. What it delivered was a quality-of-life patch wearing a major update's clothes.
What Update 10 actually changes
The headline feature is a combat overhaul that removes all Observation-bypass mechanics from the game. Previously, certain moves could punch through Observation Haki β the primary defensive tool in PvP β making fights feel inconsistent and frustrating. Now Observation works reliably, and a new white HP bar indicates invincibility frames for clearer combat feedback. It's a smart, competitive-minded change that raises the skill ceiling.
Alongside the defensive rework, players can now equip two weapons simultaneously and swap mid-combo. This opens up genuine build variety β pairing a fast sword with a heavy hitter, or mixing ranged and melee options β and represents the kind of mechanical depth King Legacy has historically lacked compared to its rivals.
Three new fruits round out the combat additions: Pteranodon (Mythical) is already being called one of the best in the game thanks to its high mobility and damage output, while Tree (Legendary) brings crowd control and Demon (Legendary) adds another option to the roster. The level cap jumps to 5,450 with a new Third Sea island to match, and the bounty cap rises to 250 million.
Two new timed raid bosses add endgame content that King Legacy badly needed. The Serpent spawns as a whirlpool every 90 minutes, triggered through the revamped fishing system with a 20% encounter chance. The Pteranodon boss appears as a world event every two hours. Both give high-level players something to chase beyond the standard grind loop. Seven weapons and three beasts received revamps, breathing life into previously ignored gear like the Sunken Blade and Acrospear.
The player count tells the real story
Updates are measured in two ways: what they add and who they attract. On content, Update 10 delivers. On player counts, the picture is sobering.
King Legacy's 48-hour peak around the update hit roughly 57,000 concurrent players β a modest bump β before settling back to the 41,000β48,000 range within days. Compare that to the seismic player surges that Blox Fruits updates routinely generate, or Sailor Piece's meteoric rise to 400K+ concurrent off the back of its own Massive Update on March 25.
The numbers frame the competitive gap starkly. Blox Fruits carries 60 billion lifetime visits and a deep trading economy built over years. Sailor Piece has only 191 million visits but is growing at a rate that suggests it could surpass King Legacy's 3.9 billion total within months. King Legacy isn't shrinking dramatically, but it's not growing either β and in a genre where momentum matters, flat is effectively falling behind.
Perhaps most telling is the content creator response. Update 10's coverage was dominated by guide sites β Pro Game Guides, MrGuider, Droid Gamers β publishing patch notes and fruit codes. The major YouTuber hype cycle that accompanies Blox Fruits and Sailor Piece updates was notably absent, suggesting Update 10 didn't break through the awareness threshold that drives viral growth on Roblox.
Squeezed from both sides: the three-way race
King Legacy's predicament is structural, not just numerical. For most of its life β the game launched in December 2019 as "King Piece" before a copyright-forced rename β it occupied a comfortable second place behind Blox Fruits. That position was stable and profitable. Now it faces pressure from two directions simultaneously.
Above: Blox Fruits remains the entrenched incumbent with years of accumulated content, a mature PvP scene, and the kind of network effects that come with 60 billion visits. King Legacy has never seriously threatened Gamer Robot Inc's dominance, and Update 10 doesn't change that calculus. Blox Fruits has roughly 7x King Legacy's concurrent player count.
Below: Sailor Piece has emerged as the genre's most exciting new entrant, now carrying 8x King Legacy's concurrent players despite being a fraction of its age. Players and creators consistently praise Sailor Piece for having the best combat system in the anime RPG space β tighter combos, cancel windows, and frame-level precision that makes King Legacy's newly overhauled combat feel a generation behind. Its Infinite Tower endless mode with leaderboards, added just 12 days after King Legacy's Update 10, gave endgame players exactly the kind of competitive PvE content that drives retention.
King Legacy is no longer the clear #2. It's the reliable middle option β not as deep as Blox Fruits, not as modern as Sailor Piece.
What King Legacy needs next
Update 10's combat changes show that Sea King Games understands what's happening competitively. Removing Observation bypass and adding dual weapons are direct responses to the skill-based combat that Sailor Piece popularized. But awareness and execution are different things.
The core loop remains unchanged: grind quests, hunt fruits, level up, repeat. The UI hasn't been modernized to match newer competitors' polish. The fishing overhaul, while appreciated by its niche audience, doesn't move the needle for the majority of players. These are the areas where King Legacy feels its age β not in the volume of content, but in the fundamental feel of playing the game.
For King Legacy to reclaim genuine contender status, it likely needs something more radical than iterative updates: a visual refresh, a rethinking of progression pacing, or a unique system that neither Blox Fruits nor Sailor Piece offers. The Thai studio behind Sea King Games has proven it can ship consistent, quality content for six years. The question is whether consistency is enough when the competition is rewriting the rules.
The verdict
King Legacy Update 10 is a good update for an established game. The combat overhaul is genuinely smart, the raid bosses add needed endgame depth, and Pteranodon is a standout fruit addition. Players who already love King Legacy have real reasons to come back and grind to the new 5,450 cap.
But "good" isn't "transformative," and the anime RPG genre on Roblox is in a transformative moment. With Sailor Piece exploding past 400,000 concurrent players and Blox Fruits holding steady above 350,000, King Legacy's 48,000 reflects a game that's playing defense rather than offense. Update 10 shores up the foundation. What comes next will determine whether King Legacy remains a solid niche or fades into the background of a genre it helped build.
